Chinese Fleet 2008

Project 956EM Sovremenny class. Ship-to-Ship Missiles 3M-80E Moskit (SS-N-22 Sunburn) active/passive radar homing to 160km at Mach 2.5; warhead 300kg; sea-skimmer Air-Defense Missiles. This ship appears to be solid designs and well thought out. The only thing is, those ships would be considered screens in the American Navy. Until they deploy ships capable of true power projection (aircraft carriers) the Chinese Navy will be a regional threat at best. That said the Chinese are believed to be training crews on the carrier Varyag which was purchased from the Ukrainians. Papa Chuck
